The Longest Day [day#32]

Today my wife walked over 42 km, partly in the mountains — her longest stretch in one go. Someone asked me, “How do you even run marathons?” And honestly, watching her do this makes me prouder than any of my own races. I already know she’ll make it to Santiago de Compostela on time. But tomorrow? Tomorrow will hurt.

Back home, everyone’s missing her — deeply. It’s interesting to see how each person shows it differently. We’re in survival mode now. This trip has revealed how close we are as a family — when one of us is gone, something just feels off.

On a more practical note: I managed to squeeze in my Wednesday strength session. If there’s room on Sunday, I’ll make up for today’s skipped workout. I’m also wrapping up the final touches on the home gym — it’s now fully functional. I opted for slightly less spartan conditions this time. After more than 11 years, it was time for something decent — this place sees a lot of me.

The plyo box arrived, so I included it in my warm-up with a few movements I plan to integrate into phase two of my race prep — which kicks off in a little over 60 days (see the countdown on the right). Today’s session was moderate in intensity, mostly focused on testing transitions and dialing in weights. It’s a core set I’ll be returning to frequently — eventually forming a foundational module in the System. My goal? Simplicity. Logical flow. Minimal equipment. Maximal muscle group coverage in minimal time.

Pro tip: When designing a repeatable strength session, prioritize logistical simplicity. Eliminate unnecessary transitions. Keep it tight, smart, and consistent — so you can hit it hard, even when life’s chaotic.
